The trap we're not setting
Grammarly's advertised price assumes you pay for a whole year up front. Pay monthly instead and it runs about $30. That gap is the business model: quote the annual rate, charge the monthly one, count on you not to cancel.
We'd rather earn month thirteen than lock it in during month one. If Owlproof stops being useful, leaving should take less effort than a typo.
Why build this now?
In October 2025, Grammarly rebranded as Superhuman and repositioned around AI productivity: email, agents, meeting tools. Fourteen years of being the default answer to "how do I check my grammar," traded for a crowded race it may well win.
But that leaves the original question with no default answer. The people who just want their writing checked didn't stop existing. They got rebranded away from.

- When does it launch?
- We're building it now and we won't invent a date to sound organized. Waitlist members hear first and get in first.
- Is $20 really the whole price?
- Yes. One plan, twenty dollars, month to month. If that ever changes you'll hear it from us plainly, not discover it on a renewal notice.
- Will there be a free version?
- Maybe, after launch. If we do one it will have honest, stated limits rather than being a nag screen with a text box.
- What do you do with my email?
